Well, these past couple of weeks have been quite the roller coaster ride! And, these next few will be just as interesting.
My last official day with SXSW will be on May 29th. I gave my notice to SXSW a little over a week ago. It was a very tough decision to make but I’m taking a leap of faith and accepting an opportunity with another company here in Austin. I’m going to miss my position on the SXSW Interactive team and the family I am leaving behind. But, it eases my sadness to remember that I’m able to keep in touch with them even after my departure. (Thanks Gmail and social media!)
My last full day in the SXSW office and at my desk I’ve had for almost 4 years…since August of 2011, back when I was just 24…is on Tuesday. I head to an Executive Assistant conference in New York mid-week and am spending the long Memorial Day weekend in the city with my husband. The following week I’ll begin my new job (while buttoning up final details with SXSW). Thus, beginning a new chapter in my life! Sure, people change jobs all the time but this is more of a life transition…as those close to me know how much of my time, energy, and passion has gone into my position at SXSW.
It will be a challenge to get adjusted to this new career change but one I’m excited about tackling and seeing where this leap of faith takes me. Thanks to all of my close friends, family, and mentors for being the best cheerleaders a girl could have. And, thanks to my SXSW & Interactive team and family for these last few awesome years.
In other news, here’s just a quick and random update: This past week my husband and I along with two good friends of ours all just booked flights for Spain and Portugal for the fall! It’ll be our first trip abroad together and we’re looking forward to that adventure all on its own!
To end this post, I want to mention that I’ve seen/heard of so many of my friends and family that have had babies, gotten married, graduated, earned promotions, accepted job offers, celebrated a milestone, etc. As well, a number of friends are getting ready for some pretty cool new adventures in their lives! I say let’s all send each other well wishes, the best of thoughts, and strong prayers as we move forward to live out the best life we can for ourselves and each other.
Till next time!
